Shay Dogan-Phillips, MA, LCSW
Life is a Journey. The journey will include many paths and ways, some of these paths will be more challenging than other parts of the journey, and within these challenging parts of the path we may benefit from the presence of someone just to sit, listen, support, coach and encourage.

received my Bachelor of Social Work degree from New Mexico State University (Las Cruces, NM) in 1989 and Master of Social Work degree from Our Lady of the Lake University of San Antonio, TX in 1990. The only requisite to obtain these diplomas were a deep sense of gratitude and a desire to work in human service. I have worked as a Social Worker in California and Texas. I took off 9 years within this time to be home with my children. Although my education has been a great source of wisdom, I am grateful for the life wisdom and experiences from my own journey of learning which I continue to learn humbly.

My past Social Work experience have been in a variety of settings; in-patient and out-patient psychiatric settings, Human Services, Hospice, etc.

I have an eclectic approach to my work with people, depending on the circumstances of the experienced situation that the person brings to meet with me. Although, I like to take into consideration the views and ways of my clients and what may be most beneficial for them; my personality and thoughts are more within the Humanistic Therapies, such as Client-centered, Existential, Family Systems and Gestalt. I have utilized role playing, empty chair, drawing, homework, guided meditation, etc. as tools within my work in past.

The words of Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh explains how I feel about people, "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." The Universe is within you. I will be honored to coach you to discover your own self. Blessings.

"It's your road, and yours alone, others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you." - Rumi
