Joy Garrett, LPC-Intern, MEd
Supervised by Debbie Edmunds, MA, LPC-S, CART
Hi, my name is Joy and I am an LPC-Intern.

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Houston Baptist University in the Spring of 2013. While earning my Bachelor's degree, I became a member of PSI CHI, the National Honor Society for Psychology Students. I returned to Houston Baptist University the same year to begin my Master's degree. I graduated from Houston Baptist University again in August 2015 with a Master's in Education with a Specialization in School Counseling. Alongside my studies for my Master's Degree, I decided to also take courses to complete the Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) requirements. While obtaining my license, I became a member of the Texas Counselor Association and Christian Counselors of Texas Organization.

The choices I made for my education directly reflect where my passions are. By nature, I am a helper; may it be through obtaining their education or through counseling. I have worked in the education field for over 9 years. Five of those years were spent directly in the classroom as a teacher. I am currently a School Counselor. My job each and everyday is to integrate emotional health and academic success.

My studies and experiences have taught me how to be a great teacher, to be open-minded, and most importantly, to be compassionate. Each of these traits are essential to the therapeutic process. I strongly believe in the benefits of therapy and empowering you on how to be the best version of yourself. My goal as a therapist is to be present and supportive as you and I collaboratively work on your goals to find what works best for YOU, as an individual.

Please arrive 20 minutes early for your initial appointment to complete paperwork.
