Brett Walker, MA, LPC-Intern, CSAT-C
Supervised by Catherine King, LPC-S
Welcome to my page! I want to commend you for having the courage to actively look for help. I know from firsthand experience how difficult it is to reach out and talk about our deepest, darkest, most hidden secrets to a complete stranger. Asking for help contrary to what many of us have been taught, is a sign of strength, not an admission of weakness. My H.O.P.E. is that I'll have the opportunity to be a part of this journey that you now have made a decision to undertake by reaching out for help at this time.

I have significant experience counseling adults, adolescents, couples, and families with a broad variety of issues. Some specific areas that I find people struggling with include:

  • Sexual Addiction (I'm a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist-Candidate, CSAT-C)
  • Porn Addiction
  • Internet/Gaming/Smartphone Addiction
  • Depression
  • Social Anxiety
  • Interpersonal/Life Stage Difficulties
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Borderline Personality Disorder
  • Grief
  • Relationship Issues

Just as the paths to making the decision to seek a counselor are many and varied, so are the paths to becoming one. My BA is in Political Science from Texas State University. I worked in information technology outside of Seattle, WA.

After gaining a great deal of experience working with people from a diverse set of backgrounds, I determined that in order to make a meaningful difference in people's lives, I could best connect with people by pursuing my Masters Degree in Counseling. I decided to attend graduate school at Sam Houston State University, where I earned my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern (LPC-Intern), and my supervisor is Catherine King (LPC-S).

Since graduating, I have been counseling people in an inpatient setting at West Oaks Hospital. I work with a variety of issues that we can all face from time to time whether they be adjustment issues or more serious and acute mental health concerns - This experience has further fueled my compassion, empathy, and desire to combat the stigma that people suffering from mental health difficulties of any kind may face.

I look forward to working together with you on your path to wellness. If I can answer any questions for you or if you would like to book an appointment, please contact me at:
